March 1, 1992 1st Fire was at 240 Main Street and the second was at 265 Main Street.
First fire was at 0302 hours. This fire was in a vacant house adjacent to the Smithtown United Methodist Church. The second fire was spotted at 0308 hours while crews from Smithtown were operating at the first one. The Saint James FD was called in to handle that one. These are two of the fires set by Smithtown Firefighter Kevin Heffernan and his crew. Hauppauge sent an engine to cover for Smithtown. These are two of 9 fires set in town between February 1st and March 1st of this year..
