Middle Island FD-Vacant house burns on Wellington Road

March 26, 2022 0350 hours. The Middle Island, Coram, Yaphank, Gordon Heights, Ridge Fire Departments respond to a report of a house fire at 73 Wellington Road in Middle Islands district. Units arrive to find heavy fire in a single story vacant private dwelling with an attached garage. Due to the volume of fire and potential for collapse, firefighters initiated an exterior attack. A portion of the roof did collapse. The fire was knocked down within 90 minutes. Units remained on scene until approximately 6AM.
