August 2, 2021 1813 hours. The Shelter Island Fire Department is dispatched to a report of a fire in the Dory Bar/Restaurant at 185 North Ferry Road. The report came from a passing Shelter Island Police Officer that stated he saw smoke coming from the building. Firefighters were on scene with a working fire within five minutes, and requested mutual aid from the Greenport Fire Department. Greenport FD sent 12 members to assist. All of the patrons and employees had evacuated without injury by the time that the fire department. Three firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion. The fire started in a compressor motor in the kitchen according to Assistant Chief Anthony Reiter. This building was built in 1925.
