Dix Hills FD-House fire on Cass Street

March 10, 2022 1730 hours. The Dix Hills Fire Department responded to a basement fire in a single story private dwelling at 294 Cass St. Multiple lines were stretched and operated. Dix Hills was assisted by Commack FD with an engine, Deer Park FD with a RIT and EMS, Melville FD with an engine. The Huntington Manor FD sent an engine to cover for the duration. Greenlawn, North Babylon FC and CVAC sent ambulances. Fire placed under control at approximately 1830 hours. Three Civilians, one Police Officer and one Firefighter were transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation. The Suffolk County Police Department Arson Squad is investigating.
