March 25, 1980 Fire reported at 1110 hours. Mayfair Meats, Shoe Outlet, Crepe Jardin, the Pancake Cottage and a film processing store were destroyed. The fire started in Pancake Cottage. These stores were located in the center of the main wing of the center. Two firefighters were injured. James Aiello from Commack was hurt when part of the roof collapsed. He was admitted to St. Johns with burns and smoke inhalation. Commack, Smithtown, Hauppauge, East Northport and Kings Park all operated at the scene. Smithtown News 3-27-1980.
