Kings Park FD-Fire in KPPC Bldg 8

March 16, 1976 Fire was on the upper floor and attic of building 8. At the time of the fire, the building, which was formerly a patient care center, housed the hospitals telephone network. The system was being replaced at the time of the fire (the replacement system was being installed in a different location on the hospital grounds). Over 100 firefighters from Kings Park, Commack, Smithtown and the KPPC FD tackled the blaze within 4 1/2 hours. The fire began on the 2nd floor and extended into the attic.
