March 12, 1947 I do not know where this house was. A story in Newsday references a fire at this residence, stating that the fire caused an estimated 25K in damage and that the house was a landmark. The owners were away at the time and no probable cause for the conflagration has been discovered. As this was handled by the Smithtown Police Department, it must have occurred in the Smithtown part of the fire district. If anyone has any information on this, please let us know.
