February 28, 1994 Fire reported at 1035 hours. by a woman who ran up to the Smithtown Firehouse stating that the church was on fire. Chief was Billy Johnson. Church was at the 70 NY Avenue which is at the corner of Colonial Road. Fire occurred in the newly renovated southern wing, which was destroyed. The Church was on the property that was the original Smithtown Gospel Tabernacle. It was sold to a private businessman and then to the Christian Life Center in February 1991. At the time of the fire, the church was undergoing a major renovation. The main floor had already been completed and the upper level was being renovated into living quarters for then Reverend Robert Iannuccilli and his family. The Arson squad carried this as a suspicious fire. Mutual aid from Hauppauge, Kings Park, Nesconset, St. James and Central Islip. 3 ladders and 4 engines operated.
