Brentwood FD-fatal fire in a vacant adult home on 8th Street

January 10, 2017 0352 hours. Fire was at 141 8th Street near 2nd Avenue. Fire Department units arrived to find heavy fire on the first floor of a 3 story vacant and boarded wood frame structure. This building was a former rectory for St. Anne’s Church. Islip sent an engine, Bayshore was the RIT, Commack sent a truck and Deer Park sent an engine. Islip and East Islip sent engines to the scene and East Brentwood sent an engine to cover. Brentwood Leigon and CI Hauppauge Ambulance were also on scene. At one point, there was a partial floor collapse so members had to back out and go exterior. 3-4-30 found the victim. This was a former adult home. Two lines stretched and operated. Victim reportedly found on the ground floor.
