March 13, 2022 1709 hours. The Islip Terrace Fire Department responds to a report of a vehicle fire in the driveway of a residence at 121 Amityville Street in North Great River. Units arrive to find a pickup truck burning in the driveway and auto exposing to a camper and a dwelling. A working fire was transmitted, bringing in East Islip FD with a ladder, Islip with an engine, Central Islip with a ladder, East Brentwood with an engine and Brentwood FD to cover. The fire was placed under control within an hour. The vehicle was destroyed and both the camper and the house sustained heavy damage. There were no reported injuries. Islip Town Fire Marshals and Suffolk Arson Detectives are investigating. Photos by Ken Bradbury.
