March 24, 2021, 0105 hours. The North Babylon Fire Company was alerted for an automatic fire alarm at the Marion G. Vedder Elementary School at 794 Deer Park Avenue. After gaining access to the building, a fire was located in the basement. Crews immediately stretched a hose line and quickly extinguished the fire. Neighboring fire departments assisted in making sure there was no fire spread as well as properly ventilating the building.No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Town of Babylon Fire Marshals Office.
