March 24, 1994 Al Kozlik was appointed PIO of the Smithtown Fire Department in March of 1974 by then Chief of Department Carmine Sacco. His column was invaluable to me in creating this website. His stories painted a vivid picture of the goings on in the Smithtown Fire District. His educational pieces were informative and most certainly saved lives. Helena Sonnenberg assumed Al’s duties and the column continued for a short time.
