July 6, 2018 2040 hours. Smithtown Fire Department responds to a report of a structure fire at the Walgreens at 712 Smithtown Bypass. Arriving units find a small smouldering fire in a walk in refrigerator on the west side of the store. Crews disconnect power from the unit, extinguish the fire, overhaul the area and ventilate the building. Fire Marshals from the Town of Smithtown Department of Public Safety were called in to investigate and follow up. There were no injuries and the store was evacuated prior to the arrival of the fire department. Nesconset Fire Department was also dispatched to this incident.
