Hauppauge FD/CIHVAC-Car leaves LIE, overturns and lands in the woods.

August 17, 2018 0759 hours. Hauppauge Fire Department responds with Central Islip-Hauppauge Community Ambulance to exit 56 on the westbound side of the Long Island Expressway. Units arrive to find that a vehicle left the roadway, overturned and landed in the wooded area between the expressway and the north service road. FD personnel along with SCPD ESU cleared an area to the vehicle and removed the roof to enable medical personnel to stabilize and remove the driver. The victim was transported by helicopter to Stony Brook Hospital. Assistant Chief Martinez operated with Rescue 3-8-9 and engines 11 and 14. Brentwood Legion ambulance and the Smithtown Fire Department both sent ambulances to the scene.
