Smithtown FD-first fire dispatch system installed

March 3, 1909 The system alerted firefighters as follows: 1 stroke meant the call was up north, 2 strokes, east, 3 strokes south, 4 strokes west. 10 strokes after, to denote a house fire, 6 strokes for a woods fire.
