Stony Brook FD-Multiple agencies search for missing swimmer

November 27, 2018 1620 hours. Bay Constables from the Town of Smithtown respond along with Suffolk Police and the Stony Brook Fire Department in regards to a 911 call reporting a swimmer in distress in the area of the Stony Brook Yacht Club. Units arrived and requested additional boats from St. James and Setauket  Fire Departments to try and search the area. Suffolk Police aviation was also involved. After further investigation, it was determined that the swimmer that the caller saw was never in distress and had gone home. NYS DEC police and Stony Brook Ambulance were also on the scene.
