April 6, 2019 0348 hours. Nesconset, St. James, Ronkonkoma and Lakeland Fire Departments are dispatched to a report of a house on fire at 18 Meryl Lane off Florence Street in the Nesconset Fire District. Units arrive and find a large wood shed burning in the rear yard. The fire is extinguished and crews clear from the scene by 0515 hours. Fire Marshals from the Town of Smithtown Department of Public Safety were on scene investigating. There were no injuries, although a number of pigeons died in the fire.
