May 14, 2021. 0545 hours. The East Hampton Fire Department is dispatched to an odor of smoke in the area of Pantigo Road and Spring Close Highway. Fire fighters arrived and after a brief search, found an active fire in Moby’s Restaurant at 341 Pantigo Road. The fire was in the basement and the occupants of the second and third floor apartments had already evacuated safely. Firefighters had difficulty getting to the seat of the fire due to a heavy amount of boxes and equipment in the basement. Once they located the fire, it was quickly extinguished. Sag Harbor and Amagansett Fire Departments sent RITs, East Hampton Village Ambulance Association sent units to the scene and Springs FD Sent an engine to cover for the duration. All FD units cleared from the scene at around 0930 hours. The East Hampton Town Fire Marshals Office handled the investigation.
