Nesconset FD-Crew strikes natural gas line on Lake Avenue

July 30, 2019 Crews doing roadway improvements on Lake Avenue struck a gas main near Angela Court. Nesconset Fire Department was dispatched to the scene but crews were unable to shut it down due to the damage. Mutual aid was requested from the Ronkonkoma Fire Department for manpower. The area was shut down and crews monitored with their meters. National grid was requested and arrived at approximately 845. Crews cleared from the scene at 0930. Fire Marshals from the Town of Smithtown are following up.
