January 20, 1985 unknown time Fire destroys historic mansion on the corner of Moriches and Cordwood. Mutual aid provided by St. James, Nesconset, Smithtown, Eatons Neck, Centereach, and Middle Island. Eatons Neck, Centereach and Middle Island were for tankers. There were no hydrants in this area in 1985. During the fire, two burning vehicles fell through the floor of the garage into the basement. This was an 18th century mansion.*
