Centereach FD-Fire at McCrory’s in the SmithHaven Mall

January 17, 1992 2120 hours. Centereach Fire Department responds to a report of a structure fire in the McCrorys store. The fire was in the retail area of the store and was extinguished by the sprinkler system. McCrory’s was an L shaped store that had entrances on the east side of the Sears wing and the north side of the Macys wing. Mutual aid was provided by the Nesconset, Smithtown and Stony Brook Fire Departments. Fire reported at approximately 2120 hours.
