On Wednesday December 1st at approximately 1500 hours, the Deer Park Fire Department was, activated for a residential structure fire at 12 Milleridge Drive. Upon arrival of 1-4-31, he advised Babylon Central Fire Alarm of a 2 story private dwelling with smoke coming from the 2nd floor and a hydrant across the street. The alarm was reactivated as a working fire with fire on the 2nd floor in a bedroom on the exposure 4 side of the structure. Engine 1-4-11 was on scene within a couple of minutes and stretched an 1 3/4 handline to the second floor locating the fire. Crews stretched 2 1 3/4 handlines, set up multiple ground and aerial ladders completed primary and secondary searches and overhauled the entire structure. The firefighters were able to locate and knock down the fire preventing further fire extension through the structure. Our department responded with 1 chief, 2 engines, 1 tower ladder, 2 fire police units, 2 ambulances, and 1 rehab unit. We would like thank the Dix Hills Fire Department, Wyandanch Fire Company, and North Babylon Fire Company for the assistance. The scene was turned over to the Town Of Babylon Fire Marshals office for investigation.
