Deer Park FD-Fire on Homer Ave

December 13, 2021 1145 hours. The Deer Park Fire Department is dispatched to a report of a structure fire at 205 Homer Ave. Upon the arrival of units, they notified Babylon Central Fire Alarm that they were on scene with smoke showing from a single story house. While firefighters were entering the structure multiple Suffolk County Police Officers were removing a dog. Crews quickly located the fire in a basement apartment bedroom. The first due engine back stretched, pulling an inch and three quarter hand line through the front door then down into the basement. Crews knocked down the fire, completed primary and secondary searches, vented the structure and overhauled within a short period of time. The department responded with 1 chief, 2 safety officers, 2 engines, 1 tower ladder, 2 ambulances, 2 fire police units and 1 rehab unit. Mutual aid units were on scene but the agencies were not indicated. The scene was turned over to the Town Of Babylon Fire Marshals office for investigation.
