Copiague FD fatal fire on Deauville Blvd

September 19, 2021 1450 hours. Copiague Fire Department responds to a house fire at 310 Deauville Blvd. Arriving units encounter a fire within a two story private dwelling. Two Assistants Chiefs from Copiague (Kyle Miller and Danny Broyles along with Amityville FD Assistant Chief Amityville Gavin Budde made entry into the fire building to search for occupants that were reported to be trapped within. Chief Miller located an unconscious victim with severe burns in the kitchen while Chiefs Broyles and Budde continued searching the bedrooms. Chief miller transmitted that he located the victim at which point Broyles and Budde made their way to the kitchen to assist Miller package and remove the victim from the fire building. Once removed from the fire building , prior to any EMS arrival, life saving measurses were implemented by the chiefs and crews on scene. The victim, identified as Ivory Dean, age 67 was transferred to an Amityville ambulance and transported to an area hospital in critical condition Mr. Dean succumbed to his injuries on September 23rd. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Suffolk Police Arson Detectives and Babylon Town Fire Marshals.
