North Babylon Fire Co-Vehicle hits marked police car then slams into house, sparking fire.

January 15, 2021 1355 hours. A speeding vehicle that blew through a stop sign slams into a marked Suffolk County Police car and hits a house and igniting a fire. Police say that the driver of a Nissan Pathfinder, Dasean Player, 31, of West Babylon, was charged with multiple counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and reckless driving. The passenger in that vehicle, identified by police as Steven Glover, 32, of Wyandanch, was charged with multiple counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and attempted assault for kicking and spitting at a police officer while saying he had COVID-19, police said.

Police said that Player, driving the Nissan, was eastbound on Woods Road and sped through a stop sign at Elton Lane when he collided with a Suffolk PD First Precinct Sector car. Player lost control of the SUV and slammed into #167 Elkton Lane. The vehicle started burning and the fire extended to the house. The fire was quickly extinguished. Both men and the police officer suffered non-life threatening injuries injuries and were transported to area hospitals. No one within the house was injured.
