Hauppauge FD-Fire destroys the historic Hanley house on Veterans Highway

January 7, 1964 The Hanley house is just under 100 years old when it is burned and demolished to makle room for a garden apartment complex. In the years prior to the fire, the house was the home of Philip Carney before he moved to Smithtown. The barn on the property was used by the Festival Singers and other local groups for concerts and other community activities. The house was located at New Highway and Veterans Highway (currently the Fairfield Garden Apartments.
