December 24, 2019 1428 While returning from a report of a gas leak on Brooksite Drive, Smithtown Fire Department was dispatched to a brush fire at 93 Oak Lane in the Village of the Branch. Units arrived quickly and found two sheds, brush and a fence burning in the rear yard. Crews stretched a line off of engine 5 and the fire was extinguished within 10 minutes. Unfortunately the contents of the sheds were destroyed. There were no injuries and there was no damage to any other structures. Fire Marshals from the Town of Smithtown Department of Public Safety are investigating. This incident was one of fifteen calls that the Smithtown Fire Department handled on Christmas Eve.
