Huntington Manor FD Commercial building fire on New York Avenue

August 14, 2021 Huntington Manor firefighters were dispatched to a report of smoke from a commercial building at 826 New York Ave. 3rd Assistant Chief Scott Cloonan was first on scene and advised of a heavy smoke condition from the building. Entry was made and a fire was discovered burning between the ceiling and the roof. Firefighters from Engine 3 stretched two handlines into the building and extinguished the fire. Huntington Manor was assisted at the scene by the Huntington and Greenlawn Fire Departments. The Melville Fire Department responded to an additional alarm in the district while standing by at Manor Headquarters. The Huntington Community First Aid Squad provided an E.M.S. standby at the scene. There were no reported injuries. Chief Chuck Brady was in charge of operations.
