Huntington Manor FD-Car fire extends to two houses on Lindsay Street

January 26, 2021 1003 hours. Huntington Manor firefighters were dispatched to a report of a vehicle fire in a driveway at a residence at 11 Lindsay Street. When 1st Assistant Chief Jim Glidden arrived on scene he was confronted with a car fire that due to the heat and close proximity to two houses had auto exposed to the homes on either side of the vehicle. He requested the alarm be upgraded to a working fire. Arriving crews were tasked with extinguishing the car fire and attacking the fire which had extended into the adjacent residence. Firefighters were able to extinguish both fires. One house sustained extensive damage and the vehicle was a total loss. The second home sustained mostly exterior damage . Huntington Manor was assisted at the scene by firefighters from the Greenlawn, Dix Hills and Huntington Fire Departments. The Halesite Fire Department provided a stand by at fire headquarters. Members from the Huntington Community First Aid Squad were on scene. There were no injuries. Chief Brady was in command of the scene assisted by Chiefs Glidden, Christen and Cloonan. The cause of the original car fire is under investigation by Detectives from the Suffolk County Police Arson Squad.
