February 27, 2004 Ex-Chief Ross Huffer died in his sleep at his home after returning from an ambulance call. Huffer, who was on duty as a first responder last Thursday, suffered a fatal heart attack. The 48-year veteran of the Nesconset department won the Medal of Valor in the 1980s after saving a mans life.
