January 25, 2020 1824 hrs. An 18-year-old Bay Shore man was driving a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder westbound on Motor Parkway between Hoffman Lane and Veterans Memorial Highway when the vehicle became disabled in the roadway. A 57-year-old Bay Shore man driving a 2003 Toyota minivan stopped behind the Nissan to offer assistance. As the two men walked behind the minivan to remove tools from the trunk, they were struck by a 2001 Dodge Durango driven by a 22-year-old woman, pinning both subjects between the vehicles.
Suffolk Police officers applied a tourniquet to the leg of the 18 year old male and firefighters from the Hauppauge FIre Department extricated him with CI-Hauppauge Ambulance Personnel standing byusing hydraulic tools. He was transported to the hospital by CI-Hauppauge Ambulance. The 57 year old driver of the minivan was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. The vehicles were impounded for a safety check.
