Kings Park FD-Chief Edward Mankuski is laid to rest

February 19, 1974 Chief Mankuski was killed in a motor vehicle crash on Route 25A while returning from an activated fire alarm call on February 15th (see that date for details). Chief Mankuski reposed at the Kings Park Firehouse on the 17th and 18th, where services were held Monday evening. It was the first such wake at the Kings Park Firehouse since 1950 when Chief George Warren died while in office.

The Mass of the resurrection was held at St. Josephs Church in Kings Park followed by burial in St. Philip Neri Cemetary in Northport. Funeral arrangements were handled by Clayton Funeral Home.
