Smithtown FD-House fire on Terry Road

February 2, 1992. 0155 hours. This was a fire in an unoccupied multi tenant, single story office building owned by the DiCanio Organization. The building was slated to be razed to make way for what was called the “Galleria” project, a 90 acre planned unit development of private dwellings and apartments, along with retail. This fire was part of the firefighter arson spree. Fire was under control within 40 minutes. Heavy winds and sub zero temps made this a very difficult fire to fight.
