February 1, 2018 2046 hours. Stony Brook Fire Department was dispatched to a report of an activated fire alarm at Douglass College in the Tabler Quad at SUNY Stony Brook. Units arrived to find an active fire in at least one room on the ground level of the three story building. The working fire was transmitted and mutual aid was requested from the Setauket Fire Department for an engine and a truck, Centereach Fire Department for a truck, St. James Fire Department for their RIT on heavy rescue 4-3-9 and Port Jefferson VAC for a bus. Two lines were stretched and crews laid in from a hydrant that was close to 1000 feet away from the fire. Crews made quick work of the fire and the incident was placed under control within 30 minutes. There were no injuries reported.
