January 3, 2022 Ex-Chief Gene Scheuring passes away at age 75 in Venice Florida. Gene was a true servant to the people, serving as a police officer in Highway Patrol with Suffolk County Police Department. Gene was also a life member of the St. James Fire Department, well as being a volunteer fireman for over twenty years. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, boating, golf, and bowling. Gene served as Worshipful Master of the Venice Masonic Lodge 301 and attended Auburn Road Presbyterian Church. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife Eileen Scheuring, daughter, Jean Keegan, son, Jay McConville (Susan), Wendy McConville (Gina), son, Michael Scheruing (Susie), and son Nicholas Scheuring, grandchildren; Jimmy Keegan, Army Captain James McConville (Martha), Air Force Captain Colin McConville (Sara) and Katelyn McConville, great-grandchildren; Olivia McConville, Henry McConville, and William McConville as well as a sister Donna Stark (Cliff).
