Greenlawn FD house fire on Monnett Place

September 22, 2021 At approximately 1230 hours, the Greenlawn FD was dispatched to a reported house fire on Monnett Place Arriving units encountered fire showing out of a single story ranch type private dwelling. Crews were faced with a long stretch to the hydrant. Members used two inch and three quarter hand lines and effectively extinguished the fire before it extended further into the house. The fire was placed under control with 45 minutes. One Firefighter was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The Huntington Manor, Dix Hills, Centerport, East Northport, Huntington and Halesite Fire Departments provided mutual aid at the scene and for coverage during the incident.
