January 3 2022: Shortly after midnight, the Brookhaven Fire Dept was activated for a structure fire at the Brookhaven Town transfer station at 350 Horseblock Road (located at the Town landfill). Upon arrival units found an uncontrolled fire within the building. Crews quickly contained the fire using master streams and heavy machinery. All crews were back in service by 0200. Mutual aid was provided by the Bellport, Yaphank, Mastic, Hagerman and Mastic Beach Fire Departments. South Country Ambulance sent an ambulance to the scene.
