January 26, 2020 1145hrs. The East Brentwood FD toned out for a reported structure fire at 49 Prospect Ave. 2nd Assistant Chief Bryant Figueroa arrived on scene and transmitted a working fire in a occupied single-story brick residential structure. Ladder 333 arrived and crews removed the remaining tenants from the building while also deploying two hand lines. Engine 331 arrived shortly after, secured a 2nd hydrant and sent the crew inside to assist in the operation. An aggressive interior attack was made while conducting primary searches. During the primary search a dog was found, crews tried tirelessly to revive the dog, giving oxygen and performing CPR, but unfortunately the dog succumbed to its injuries. The fire was placed under control within 20 mins. There were No injuries reported. The fire is being investigated by the Town of Islip Fire Marshals Office and Suffolk County PD Arson Squad . Mutual Aid was provided by; Brentwood FD Truck 3-2-28, Central Islip FD Engine 3-7-1, Islip Terrace FD Engine 3-6-1, Hauppauge FD RIT 3-8-9, Brentwood Legion Amb, Central Islip Hauppauge Amb. Also providing stand by coverage; Brentwood FD Engine Co.2 and East Islip FD Amb 3-5-6. All units and personnel operated under the command of Chief of Department Frankie Vasquez.
