Massive wildfires in Manorville and Ridge

April 9, 2012 Fire starts on Monday April 9th, 2012. 1100 acres destroyed in the pine barrens. Fire described as one of the 10th largest in the state in the past 40 years. More than 200 firefighters from 40 departments respond to the fire. One state helicopter was used to drop water. Three homes were destroyed and a number of other structures were damaged. Governor Andrew Cuomo declared a state of emergency. Fire placed under control on Wednesday April 11th.
