Centereach FD-Sprinkler system extinguishes fire at Lake Grove LA Fitness

August 29, 2018 2354 hours. Centereach Fire Department is dispatched to an automatic fire alarm at 110 New Moriches Road. Units arrive to find an active fire alarm and water flowing. Crews search the building and find that the fire sprinkler system had extinguished a fire in the building. The system was shutdown, the building vented and the area overhauled then secured for the Fire Marshal. The Lake Grove Fire Marshal responded to the scene to handle the investigation and to perform a full life safety inspection. The gym was shut down until the fire protection systems were restored.  There were no injuries and damage was minimal thanks to the sprinkler system.
