Selden FD-House fire on Parkwood Lane

August 28, 2021 0400 hours. The Selden Fire Department responds to 8 Parkwood Lane in regard to a 911 call reporting a house on fire. This fire occurred during a serious thunderstorm. The adult female occupant on the house told officials that she was on the ground level of the two story house when she heard a large bang and the house shook. The subject further stated that shortly after this occurred, she smelled smoke and found that her bedroom was on fire. Firefighters arrived to find an active fire on the upper level of the building. Selden firefighters assisted by units from Farmingville, Coram, Centereach and other departments were able to bring the fire under control in just over 30 minutes. There were no injuries. Firefighters did remove a number of cats from the building. Those animals were not injured. Brookhaven Town Fire Marshals handled the investigation. Video by Chris Sabella.
