January 17, 2022 1200 hours. The Mastic Fire Department is dispatched to a report of a garage on fire at 47 Woodcut Drive in the former Village of Mastic Beach. Units arrived to find fire venting out of a single story two bay garage. Engine 5-12-1 was first to arrive and stretched two hand lines, knocking down the fire and protecting the exposures. Mutual aid was provided by the Mastic Beach, Brookhaven, Center Moriches and East Moriches Fire Departments at the scene. The Yaphank Fire Department sent an engine to cover the district during the fire. Mastic Ambulance and Shirley Ambulance sent ambulances and covered rehab. The fire investigation is being handled by the Town of Brookhaven Fire Marshals Office and the Suffolk County Police Department Arson Squad. Photos from the Mastic Fire Department Facebook Page.
