January 8, 2022 1508 hours. The Central Islip Fire Department responds to 62 Hillard Avenue in regard to a reported house fire. Firefighters arrived and transmitted a working fire in a basement kitchen of a two story dwelling. The Chiefs were advised that there may possibly be occupants trapped within but a quick search confirmed that everyone had safely exited the building. All visible fire was knocked down within 20 minutes. Mutual aid was provided by Islip Terrace for an engine. Central Islip Hauppauge Ambulance and the Smithtown Fire Department sent EMS crews to the scene. Commack ambulance backfilled CIHVAC’s quarters as did an ambulance from Lakeland FD.
