West Islip FD fatal house fire on Udall Road

July 30, 2021 1023 hours. The West Islip Fire Department responds to a report of a house fire with a subject trapped at 861 Udall Road. Units arrived, made entry into the single story private dwelling, quickly extinguished the fire and located the victim. 61-year-old Suzanne Minervini was pronounced dead at the scene. The Bay Shore Fire Department sent a RIT. North Babylon Fire Company sent an ambulance to the scene. Babylon Fire Department stood by for West Islip. One firefighter was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. There were no other civilian injuries. The fire, which is not considered suspicious, is under investigation by Detectives from the Suffolk County Police Department Arson and Homicide Squads as well as Fire Marshals from the Town of Islip.
