December 24, 2233 hours. The East Moriches Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire on Hampton Vista Drive. It was reported that multiple attached Condominium’s were on fire and that multiple 911 callers were working on notifying and evacuating their neighbors. East Moriches FD staffed every piece of apparatus with dozens of firefighters to respond to the fire. The first units had an approximately 4 minute response time to the incident. Mutual aid was provided by Manorville, Eastport, Center Moriches, Mastic and Westhampton Fire Departments as well as Shirley Ambulance. Firefighters stopped the fire, keeping it from spreading to three additional attached units. Crews went above and beyond to protect the contents, especially the holiday decorations and presents.
