Sprofera, 79, the first chief of the Nesconset FireDepartment and a volunteer there for 52 years, died today of heart failure at Community Hospital of Western Suffolk. Mr. Sprofera, who lived in Nesconset from the age of 5 on, worked as a plumber and handyman. In 1935, he helped found the Nesconset Fire Department, becoming its first chief and one of its first commissioners. He also was captain of the department&#8217;s fire police squad for 47 years. He served as an Army private in World War II. Survivors include his wife, Antoinette, and a brother, Peter, of Nesconset.Mass, 9:45 a.m. today at St. Patrick&#8217;s Roman Catholic Church in Smithtown; burial, St. Patrick&#8217;s Cemetery, Hauppauge.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>January 22, 1988 Anthony G.
